Icelandic architecture is dominated by the “barn-barrack” style: most of the cities we saw (except for Reykjavik, of course) look like a collection of temporary huts and storage facilities. They seem so flimsy that every time I am surprised that the houses are not blown into the ocean by the wind.

Seydisfjordur Is a pleasant exception. At the end of the XIX century. Norwegian fishermen lived here, leaving behind normal buildings))

Ferries from neighboring countries come here, so cafes and shops are open until late.

And there is also a river flowing on which the first hydroelectric power plant was built, thanks to which the first electricity in the country appeared in the city. The first telephone lines in Iceland were also laid here.All in all, a great place!

The afternoon was devoted to a leisurely climb to Hengifoss waterfall – the third highest in Iceland…

Part of the walking route was closed to preserve vegetation. Now in Russia I sometimes catch myself trying not to step on the grass))))

In the evening we got to the camping through a pass with alien landscapes, accessible only for four-wheel drive vehicles.

Camping, located on the bank of a small river, this time I want to pay special attention. It is called Möðrudalur – Fjalladýrð… This is a fairly large complex with a cafe,

“Shaggy” houses

and even a helipad.

But I especially liked the kitchen. These buildings, dug into the ground, will not be carried away by the local winds))

It would have been great to hide from the bad weather, but it was dry and calm, so I watched the traditional evening TV series with tea on the terrace of the cafe in the company of … a goat.
